Prospect Spotlight-FS Cole McAnally

Cole McAnally was born and raised in Middle Tennessee. He had aspirations as a child to play football professionally, because of his love of watching and playing the game. He looked up to his favorite NFL Stars, as role models, and major influences. He wanted to be like them, in every way. Cole would go outside and play football with his friends in the back yard, and recreate his favorite football moments. 

 

Fast Forward 9 Years Later

 

Cole is a senior in High School, and plays Free Safety for his High School football team. That year he wins Class 6A Mr.Football, the best award possible in his class. He leads his school to their first ever state championship win. Coming out of High School, Cole is recruited as a Two Star Prospect Signing. Cole only ends up Receiving two NCAA Division One Offers to play football. These offers are from the University Of Middle Tennessee, a School in the Conference USA. The other offer he receives is from the University Of Northern Illinois, a school in the Mid-American Conference.

Cole McAnally, a two star recruit, Has committed and chosen to attend the University Of Middle Tennessee.  Cole ended up playing as the 2nd string free safety for Middle Tennessee in freshman season.  In his sophomore season he became the new 1st string free safety, this was only a small step in the future of the rest of his college football career. Cole would explode onto the scene of college football and would finish his the season with 57 Tackles, 39 Solo Tackles, 6 Tackles For Loss, 5 Interceptions, 3 Forced Fumbles, 2 Fumble Recoveries, And 1 Sack.

 

This breakout in his first starting season would earn him the following accolades; 

                               -Conference USA Defensive Player Of The Year

                               -Division 1 Defensive All-2nd Team

 

 

In his junior season, Cole would continue to perform and improved greatly. Finishing the season with 69 Tackles, 52 Solo Tackles, 7 Tackles For Loss, 8 Interceptions, 2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Fumble Recovery, and 3.5 Sacks. He earned the following accolades;

                                -Conference USA Defensive Player Of The Year

                                -Division 1 Defensive All-1st Team

 

 

In his senior and final season, Cole absolutely exploded out the water, his player was better than anyone in the nation. Cole would lead Middle Tennessee to a Conference USA Title, and helped the Blue Raiders finish 10-2, and as the #12 ranked football team in the country.

 

Cole’s Stats would be the best in the country for a defensive back. His Stats are below;

                                 -15 Interceptions 

                                 -80 Tackles, 59 Solo, 10 TFL

                                 -4 Forced Fumbles, 3 Fumble Recoveries

                                 -4 Sacks

                                 -2 Punt Return Touchdowns

                                 -4 Defensive Touchdowns

 

Cole’s Senior Season Accolades

 

                                 -Division 1 Defensive All-1st Team

                                 -Conference USA Defensive Player Of The Year, C-USA Player of the year

                                 -Jim Thorpe Award, Given To The Best Defensive Back In The Country.

                                 -Lott IMPACT Trophy, Given to the most outstanding defensive player in the country.

                                 -Finished 7th In Heisman Trophy Voting.
